Continuing our look back at some of the best moments of 2016, I also wanted to highlight some of the amazing wedding and portrait locations from this past year. From rustic mid-Missouri parks to the historic Tiger Hotel and Governor’s Garden, 2016 was definitely an exciting year of exploring tried-and-true favorites, as well as discovering new and unique locations!
Sparky’s Homemade Ice Cream, Columbia MO
Sparky’s Homemade Ice Cream in downtown Columbia, Missouri is a fun, quirky location for a photo session. With their funky decor and bright colors, Sparky’s is a great spot for some unique, creative portraits. Not to mention, they have the best ice cream in town!
Tiger Hotel, Columbia MO
The historic Tiger Hotel is a gorgeous wedding venue located in downtown Columbia, Missouri. In addition to its grand ballroom and beautifully decorated event spaces, one of the truly unique features of this location is its rooftop access to the iconic “Tiger” sign on the top of the hotel. A true Columbia landmark, and an absolutely stunning location!
Alpine Park and Gardens, Columbia MO
Alpine Park and Gardens is another fabulous event venue, located just north of Columbia, Missouri. With its botanical gardens, ponds, fields, and forests, Alpine Park and Gardens is an incredibly scenic location for weddings!
Mizzou Campus, Columbia MO
The Mizzou Campus is not only a quintessential Columbia landmark, but is also one of the most versatile locations for both wedding and portrait photography sessions. With many interesting buildings, amazing architecture, beautiful landscaping, and of course, the Columns, it is easy to see why the Mizzou campus is always a favorite!
Carnahan Memorial Garden (Governor’s Garden), Jefferson City, MO
The Carnahan Memorial Garden (also known as the “Governor’s Garden”) in Jefferson City, Missouri is another absolutely fabulous location for both wedding photography and portrait sessions. With its beautiful stone architecture, staircases, arches, and greenery, the Governor’s Garden is definitely a stunning, unique photography location — and one of my new favorites!
Local Parks, Trails, & Outdoor Locations
In addition to the above locations and event venues, Columbia and its surrounding areas also boast a number of amazing parks and trails. From rustic tall grasses to barns, lakes, and forests, there is truly an outdoor location that is perfect for every photography session!
